John Waterfield FAPA, FAIA, Registered Auditor
John has been a partner since 1959 and in that time he has gained great experience in business and finance. His particular interests are in developing clients’ businesses and finding commercial solutions to problems faced by companies.
John has served on a number of national committees for the ACCA and currently sits on their auditing committee. In rare moments away from the office John enjoys playing the piano and tinkering with bangers (or as he prefers, his vintage cars).

Helen Gibbens BSc (Econ), FCCA,  ACA, Registered Auditor
Helen graduated from Aberystwyth University with a degree in accountancy and qualified as a chartered certified accountant in 1996. Helen was also admitted to membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in 2006. She has been with Poole Waterfield since 1993 and specialises in audit work and company taxation.Helen is married, with a daughter and enjoys tennis, skiing and golf.

William Waterfield BSc (Econ), MAAT, AMIA
William is a university graduate in economics and is a member of the Association of Accounting Technicians and an affiliated member of the Association of International Accountants. William has spent more than twenty years in the accounting profession and now focuses on general accounting and audit work. He is also the firms VAT specialist. William has held a private pilots licence for a number of years.

David Gibbens BSc (Econ), FCA, Registered Auditor
David qualified as a chartered accountant with a national firm in 1992. He subsequently gained extensive experience as a senior forensic investigator with The Solicitors Regulation Authority, where he also lectured and published on fraud related issues. David focuses on corporate finance, solicitor’s accounts and corporate forensic work. David is a passionate supporter of Welsh rugby. He also claims to ski and play golf. David is married with a young daughter.

Peter Rayney FCA, CTA (Fellow), TEP
Peter has recently joined the practice as our Tax Technical Consultant. He is widely regarded as one of the most eminent tax experts in the country and prior to joining the team was National Tax Technical Partner at BDO. Well known as a leading lecturer and writer he has a wealth of practical taxation experience.
Away from the office, Peter enjoys music, food, West Ham United F.C. and time with his grown up family.

Steven Cox ACIB
Steven joined the practice in 2008 to look after all aspects of commercial finance, asset fiance, banking and non regulated services for our clients. Having risen to Senior Director with the RBS Group he has a wealth of experience in all aspects of finance from management buyouts to starting a new business. Steven enjoys golf, reading, supporting his local football club and time with his family.
